Apple Fitness + launches on December 14: Everything you need to know

Apple’s Fitness + fitness service launches worldwide on December 14 and here’s what you need to know about its price, features and compatible devices.

Apple had announced Apple Fitness + and Apple Watch Series 6 earlier this year in September and had stated at the time that a fitness service would be available sometime by the end of 2020.

Apple has now confirmed that Apple Fitness + will be launched on December 14.

Apple Fitness + is basically a paid fitness service designed to work with the Apple Watch. It will offer 10 types of exercises that include intermittent training (HIIT), yoga, dance, strength, spine, cycling, rowing, treadmill and cold.

This service will be offered at $ 9.99 / month (₹ 700 / month approx) or $ 79.99 / year (₹ 5,800 approx) in the US. The Apple Fitness + app can be shared with up to six family members.

As of launch, people who buy the Apple Watch Series 3 and new Apple Watch devices will receive three months of Apple Fitness + for free. Existing Apple Watch users will receive one month’s free Apple Fitness + subscription.

Apple Fitness + will be available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand from December 14. Apple should announce the availability of more countries soon, including India.

The Apple Fitness + app also comes with a wide range of Apple One Premier features. Apple Prime’s premium plan costs $ 29.95 / month (₹ 2,200 approx) and offers Apple Music, Apple TV +, Apple Arcade, Apple News + and 2TB iCloud storage. Apple’s Prime Minister’s plan can also be shared by six family members.

For those interested in Apple Fitness +, you need to have the Apple Watch Series 3 or new devices paired with the iPhone 6s or newer devices. Your devices should be updated with watchOS 7.2 and iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3, and tvOS 14.3. For Apple Watch users, Apple Fitness + will automatically appear as a new tab in the Fitness app on the iPhone.

IPad users will need to download the Fitness app from the App Store.

If you plan to use Apple Fitness + on an iPad, you need the iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad mini 4 or later, iPad Air 2, or iPad Air ( third generation or later).

On Apple TV, the Fitness app will appear automatically when the user upgrades to tvOS 14.3. Apple Fitness + is supported on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.
