The first shipment of Covid-19 vaccine by UK drugmaker AstraZeneca arrived in Australia on Sunday, Australian Health Minister Greg Hunt said.
“Let me start by saying that I am happy to announce that the first shipment of AstraZeneca vaccines has arrived in Australia. 300,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine were affected this morning,” Hunt said during a forum.
The minister added that Australia would receive more than 53 million AstraZeneca drugs in total, and “doses made in Australia” are expected to arrive by the end of March.
In addition to the jabs of AstraZeneca, Australia has also highlighted the use of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine, and expects 20 million doses this year. Vaccines using Pfizer’s gun started in the country last week.
Australia has confirmed less than 29,000 Covid-19 cases and more than 900 deaths.
