CANADA NEWS: Canada says AstraZeneca Covid, derived from the Baltimore plant, is ‘high quality

The Canadian Department of Health said on Sunday that 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca Plc COVID-19 vaccine delivered at Emergent BioSolutions’ in Baltimore were safe and met quality criteria.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspended AstraZeneca from using the facility earlier this month and suspended production of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on the plant as it began investigating an error that led to millions of J&J vaccines being destroyed last month.

However, Health Canada said it reviewed the test results of all vaccines that came to the country and found them to be safe.

J&J volumes produced in Baltimore, Maryland, have not been imported, the regulator said, adding that the company’s drugs, which are expected to be delivered next week, have not been delivered to the facility.
