PAKISTAN NEWS: CM Mahmood Khan wants to end work on staff apartments

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday ordered officials to complete the construction of flats in the Rei Lalma Peshawar workers’ community.

He made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the Department of Labor at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday, according to an official letter.

Participants reviewed progress on housing plans for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Workers Welfare Board.

Labor and Culture Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, Labor Secretary Muhammand Akbar Khan, Health Secretary Imtiaz Hussain Shah and regional officials, the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and other relevant departmental officials attended the meeting.

Mahmood Khan highlighted the important role of the working class in national development and development.

He said the PTI government was taking concrete steps in the welfare of the working class and ensuring the protection of their rights.

The meeting was informed that 95% of the significant progress has been made so far in the construction of 1 200 family flats and relative infrastructure in Reggi Lalma Peshawar.

Under Phase II of this project, an additional 856 such flats were built and integrated infrastructure was in progress.

It was added that 94% of the work in Phase II has been completed again.

The meeting was told that the Peshawar Electric Supply Company had supplied electricity to 592 flats and work was underway to provide electricity to the remaining flats.

The Prime Minister has instructed the PDA to take the necessary steps to ensure the provision of electricity to all staff flats.

He asked the Assistance Department to pay off the arrears of the 592 flats above which had been used as segregation centers.

Mahmood Khan instructed officials to resolve issues relating to the management and ownership of land acquired by the Department of Labor.

He called on the Peshawar commissioner and senior officials of other relevant departments, including Human Resources, the PDA and district officials to jointly submit practical suggestions on this.

The Prime Minister instructed the Departments of Industry and Minerals to provide the Department of Labor with details of all employees working in the two departments so that their registration with the relevant institutions could be done and rights protected.
