PAKISTAN NEWS: Coronavirus in Pakistan Decision to close school, winter holidays November 5

ISLAMABAD: All education ministers will meet on November 5 to review the situation after the coronavirus case escalates and decide on school closures and winter holidays, Geo News reported on Tuesday.

According to sources, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood will preside over the meeting, and Ministers from all four provinces, as well as representatives of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), will be present.

With the ever-increasing number of coronavirus cases throughout Pakistan, parents have become increasingly concerned about sending their children to school. Sources said the ministers would review the situation at the educational institutions and take appropriate action accordingly.

Ministers are also likely to discuss other issues, including the winter holidays and the start of the new academic year from April to August 2021, sources said. In addition, decisions regarding 8th grade board exams will also be taken during the meeting.

Yesterday, Mahmood issued a statement regarding the closure of schools, saying the government had not yet decided anything.

“Rumors have been circulating about school closures. It is also clear that educational institutions are NOT CLOSED, ”he wrote on Twitter.

The minister went on to say that the government will continue to monitor the health of students, teachers, and school staff.
