ISLAMABAD: The level of coronavirus positivity in Pakistan remained below 5% for the second consecutive day on Sunday, as coronavirus cases in the country continue to decline.
According to the latest figures from the National Command and Operation Center’s (NCOC), Pakistan recorded a new coronavirus infection 24 hours ago, forcing the national number of cases to 1,223,841.
A total of 55,027 trials were conducted nationwide in the last 24 hours of which 2,580 came back infected, showing NCOC data.
Meanwhile, another 71 people lost their lives due to the virus at the same time, taking the total number of deaths in the country to 27,206.
The positive recovery rate of COVID-19 is now at 4.6%.
In addition, the number of active cases stands at 63,909 in Pakistan as of today. At least 3,164 more people received from Covid-19 within the last 24 hours, taking the total to 1,132,726.
The previous day, the number of active cases of COVID-19 dropped to 64,564 as 2,512 people were diagnosed with the virus, and 3,610 people were completely cured of the disease.
However, Pakistan had used at least 70,402,987 doses of the COVID vaccine by September 18. Considering that everyone needs 2 doses, that is enough to vaccinate about 16.3% of the country’s population.
In the last reported week, Pakistan averaged 954,803 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take another 46 days to manage enough doses for another 10% of the population.
