ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will promise the nation the latest state of coronavirus in the country, Geo News reported on Tuesday.
The Premier will chair an important meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) to review the national strategy to curb the spread of the virus.
“After the NCC meeting, Prime Minister Imran will address the media and trust the nation on the steps taken by the government,” the TV channel said.
The meeting will also be attended by officials from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) and the National Department of Health Control and Integration. They will inform participants of the growing trend of COVID-19 infections nationwide.
The Prime Minister will be notified of the steps taken to curb the spread of coronavirus and will issue a final approval for the closure of educational institutions, previously announced by State Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.
Sources revealed that important decisions are expected to be taken at the NCC meeting which could include the closure of smartphones in various parts of the country.
Coronavirus positivity rate reaches 7.5%
2,954 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 379,883. With 48 new deaths, the death toll from coronavirus reached 7,744.
To date, a total of 331,760 people have been infected with the virus and the number of active cases stands at 40,379.
Of the 39,165 surveys conducted throughout Pakistan, the ideal rate has reached 7.5%.
