PAKISTAN NEWS: The Pakistan Medical Association warns of the second ‘most dangerous’ coronavirus

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), while urging people to follow coronavirus SOPS, has warned them of a second “dangerous” wave of the disease, Geo News reported on Saturday.

Praising the government’s decision to fine those who do not wear masks in public, the PMA has called on the government to take stern action against those who do not comply with COVID-19 SOPs.

They also suggested that the government launch a campaign to distribute masks, ensuring that the prices of masks and sanitisers are controlled.

The Prime Minister also demanded resources to protect doctors and emergency workers from the government and demanded the release of the promised funds under the previously announced package.

Second lethal wave

Endocrinology professor Dr Rauf Niazi told The News that COVID-19 is more dangerous in the second wave compared to the first increase in Pakistan.

The News reported that mutations of the virus have increased its potency, which is especially dangerous for infected people.

Dr Niazi said patients diagnosed with the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in recent times appear to be more ill than before.
