GILGIT: Prime Minister Imran Khan says it is a priority for the government to give Gilgit Baltistan province a temporary position as promised earlier.
He visited the region on Wednesday for the second time in a month. On his last visit, too, he had promised the GB people of their province that they would be given a provincial position.
The Prime Minister congratulated Cabinet and Prime Minister Khalid Khurshid for taking on “the hard work of working for the masses”.
Gilgit Baltistan will soon find a government that will establish new standards, he said, and make promises for health insurance.
“I know your neighborhood. I know your problems, ”he said.
He said PTI would launch the Ehsaas program in GB as well.
The Prime Minister last visited on November 1, just before the election.
‘Ishaq Dar lied in BBC interview’
The Prime Minister commented on a recent interview by former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on the BBC News ‘HARDtalk’ program.
If you want to see the pressure, you should have seen the face of Ishaq Dar yesterday, the Prime Minister said sarcastically, adding that Dar lied in the interview.
Dar, who is also a close aide to former Prime Minister Nakaz Sharif, revealed in an interview with the BBC that he has only one place in Pakistan and that he has also been arrested by the government.
Shortly after his interview PTI lawyers took to social media to beat the former finance minister.
‘Nakaz and Zardari lie to London, Dubai’
In his speech on Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran criticized opposition leaders, including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari.
He said he had known Nakaz and Zardari for 30 years. “We have seen the wrath of God given to them,” he said, adding that Nakaz and Zardari lied about going to London and Dubai.
