The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a 47% larger image sensor than the iPhone 12, reveals teardown

The big iPhone 12 Pro Max is not just the big iPhone 12 Pro. IFixit has split the iPhone 12 Pro Max to produce a 47% larger image sensor among other things.

AuthorThe iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch display has enough space over a graceful battery. There is also an L-shaped power pack inside the iPhone 12 Pro Max which is slightly smaller than the one Apple used on the iPhone 11 Pro Max last year, according to reports and iFixit teardown. However, there are some good things going on here too – like a large three-sensor camera unit and a LiDAR unit.

On the surface, the iPhone 12 Pro Max may look like a bigger iPhone 12 Pro, but the tears of iFixit have revealed a few changes inside. The iPhone 12 Pro Max got 6 in the repair scale as well.

The L-shaped battery on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which looks like the one on the iPhone 11 Pro Max, comes with 14.13 Whr instead of 15.04 Whr.

The main camera module on the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with three sensors, a new image-switch stability that includes less than four magnets, and a LiDAR unit.

Teardown has revealed that the new smartphone is “well-designed” and the parts are easy to replace completely. As per the report, the screen and battery are both easy enough to replace, but there are some “unusual screws” that make things difficult.

As the iPhone 12 Pro Max is waterproof, it is prone to liquid damage but “various repairs” are now “difficult to complete”. Most importantly, for many users, the rear of the glass has the same problem as all other glass backs – if you break it then the whole case will need to be replaced. We suggest that you invest in a good defense case.
