A multidisciplinary medical team from India and the UAE will jointly establish a mass transplant center in Abu Dhabi – the only second such facility in the United States – that provides comfort to patients awaiting transplantation in the UAE.
The center will be based at VPS Healthcare’s Burjeel Medical City in Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi. It will have a disciplinary team led by Dr. Sandeep Attawar, Chairman and Director of the KIMS Institute for Heart and Lung Transplantation in Hyderabad, India.
Burjeel Hospital’s chief medical officer John Sunil and Dr. Attawar have signed a memorandum of understanding on medical cooperation.
According to the agreement, Burjeel Medical City will build a state-of-the-art artificial insemination center with diagnostic, therapeutic, and care equipment. In the meantime, KIMS Hospital will support them by sharing their medical knowledge and patient information.
Dr. Attawar’s team will present all the programs for heart and liver transplants. The first department to deal with heart failure in children will also be established.
The medical team will be led by Dr. Attawar, who is also the director of establishing a robust thoracic implant in KIMS hospitals, and has performed approximately 280 thoracic implants, including double lung transplants, 88 cardiac implants, and cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation. 32 implants.
The team developed about 12 lung transplants for Covid-19 injured patients.
Sunil noted: “In the first phase, we will focus on building a heart and lung transplant infrastructure. Shortly, we will be strengthening our implant center and opening it directly to patients in need. ”

The first such center in the Emirate was established by the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
