UAE NEWS: Coronavirus UAE reports 1,254 Covid-19 cases, 823 found, and 4 deaths

The country has conducted 19 million tests so far.

The UAE Department of Health and Safety on Saturday reported 1,254 new cases of Covid-19 coronavirus, as well as 823 cases of four deaths.

136,132 new Covid-19 tests were performed, taking the total number of tests performed in the country to 19 million to date.

As of December 19, the total number of cases in the UAE stands at 192,404 while the total number of acquisitions is 168,129. A total of 634 people died.

There are currently 23,641 active cases in the UAE.

On December 9, the UAE received a vaccine from Chinese company Sinopharm’s Covid-19 with 86 percent efficacy. The ports of Abu Dhabi have become an integral part of the vaccine distribution system.

It has a 19,000-square-meter warehouse on 40,000-square meter plot in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), with a capacity to store and distribute 70 million targets. The recently launched Themba Consortium has strengthened its reach in distribution following a strategic agreement with leading international retailers. Recent consortium partners, including Agility, Aramex, Hellmann and Kuehne + Nagel, will help address a variety of engagement challenges, including the ‘last mile’, with the potential for billions of Covid-19 vaccines by the end of 2021.

Meanwhile, the arrival of the Covid-19 vaccine in the UAE just before the start of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) is a major boost to shopper’s confidence. Dubai’s monthly shopping extravaganza, which started on December 17, is one of the biggest on the calendar for the annual emirate event. The festival will be completed with a draw, family entertainment, live concerts and promotions, until January 30, 2021. Organizers have said strong Covid security measures will be available at shopping malls and supermarkets.
