UAE NEWS: Dubai uses UV robots to kill germs in hospitals and clinics

A health official in Dubai has unveiled eight robots that use ultraviolet light to kill germs in medical facilities. The devices, produced by Sanitizexperts, can complete the “extinction rate” of the room in 15 minutes.

The Dubai Health Authority said the equipment, which was first unveiled last week, would be used as more hospitals return to non-Covid operations. The light from the UV lamps is 360 degrees and the robot covers each room several times before moving on.UV light has been shown to kill coronaviruses on the surface and is used by some countries to clean a facial medical mask.

Kholoud Al Ali, project manager at DHA, said the robots could be used in offices, hospital and ward rooms, operating rooms and non-medical facilities including warehouses and houses.
