A schoolteacher in Sharjah honored the UAE by building a large, beautiful flag with 5,000 stamps ‘I love the UAE’. The 9.5 X 4.5-foot tax comes as the country celebrates Flag Day today.

Rashida Adil, an art teacher at Sharjah Indian School, also put 500 handmade roses in the apartment to show her love for the country she called home 28 years ago.

“I love the UAE, it is my home. I have created gold memories in this place. I came here at the age of 21 and got a lot out of this country. So this is my humble effort to express my love and gratitude to the nation. I want this flag to be displayed at Sharjah’s Safeer Mall and finally give it to the Rulers, ”said Rashida.

“I read in class in the morning. After that I sat down with this project. I only have to use Dh20 to buy glossy sheets and a few other accessories. Rest, everything is recycled from discarded items. Made entirely by hand, without the stamps I made at the store in Sharjah. I ironed satin ribbons looking for roses that I collected in different places and on people. ”

Last year, an Indian teacher had created a huge flag with 65,000 buttons. “That flag was very simple as my students were also involved. But this year, because of the Covid-19 and the classes that took place almost immediately, I couldn’t get help from anyone else. But I did not want the virus to dampen my spirits. Besides, my husband kept encouraging me. So, I started this great project alone this year. ”
