The UAE is celebrating its first commemoration of its first space mission this week.
Dubai: His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Governor of Dubai, has said the UAE will soon announce the next vacancy.
Sheikh Mohammed made the announcement as he reviewed the strategy of Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center 2021-2031. The strategy, launched today, is the focus of the Institute’s work for the next decade.
It enhances the Institute’s international competition, builds new international partnerships and develops Emirati skills in the field of space exploration and space technology.
Sheikh Mohammed said: “The Emirati space program has been sustainable and will produce results that will have practical applications in other fields. Specialists from these fields will share their experiences with the country and the region. It will build international cooperation that will benefit humanity. “
On his Twitter page, Sheikh Mohammed said: “I have reviewed the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center’s ten-year plan. We will be announcing our next space shuttle soon and will launch special satellite upgrade programs. The space center simulator, and other educational programs, will help provide training in this field ”.
“Our sustainable space programs will advance all our other sectors and build new skills. We will share our expertise with the rest of the region and build international knowledge partnerships for the benefit of humanity, ”said Sheikh Mohammed.
Sheikh Mohammed and the MBR Space Center team have reviewed the strategy establishing a new phase of cooperation with international organizations.
The strategy includes the goals of the UAE National Space Program in addition to five key priorities, including the Emirates Mars Mission (Hope Probe), the Mars 2117 project, the UAE Astronaut Program, the UAE Satellite Program and the UAE Space Sector Sustainability Program .
The MBR Space Center team also briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the timing of major projects, including Themba Probe, nanometric environment satellite (DM SAT1), UAE second space campaign, innovation center, space food research, UAE space simulation Program, Mars Science City, Space Entrepreneur Program and International Astronautical Congress.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center chairman Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori said we were starting a new phase of our journey with full support from the leaders; we are working towards achieving our new strategic goals and expanding our mission to make the UAE more competitive in the international space sector. He added that the center created an environment that would support space entrepreneurs by fostering international knowledge partnerships with international organizations.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center Director-General Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani also confirmed that the center is working to expand the UAE’s position as a major player in the global space industry by investing in research and development.
