UK NEWS: Coronavirus: London ‘added to COVID-19 national watch list’ as cases increase

London has been added to the list of national coronavirus observers, said a group representing capital councils.

London Councils represent 32 capital cities and the City of London.

No further action is being taken on the capital at this time.

The group urged Londoners to abide by the new restrictions imposed by Boris Johnson earlier in the week – including working from home where possible and enforcing a six-year rule.

Prior to the announcement of the Prime Minister, there was an ongoing debate on whether action should be taken to address the rising prices of COVID-19 in the city.

Spokesman Sadiq Khan said the situation was “getting worse” and strict measures were needed to “curb the uncontrolled coronavirus”.

But at a conference on Downing Street, science chief Sir Patrick Vallance suggested that protection against the disease could be greater in London than in the rest of the world.
