LONDON, September 22 – The advent of technology in London has grown almost as much in the first six months of 2021 as it did last year, helping the British capital maintain its partnership with New York as a top destination outside Silicon Valley, a new data show.
According to figures compiled by the Startup Genome, London has received a lot of support, talent and communication, despite the turmoil caused by the COVID-19 epidemic and Brexit.
It retained its second position tied with New York for the second year in a row, a study released to coincide with London Tech Week 2021 has shown. Beijing and Boston finished fourth and fifth respectively.
The technology launch in London grossed $ 10.8 billion in the first six months of 2021, close to $ 10.9 billion earned in 2020 as well as accounting for one-fifth of all European funding, according to Dealroom 2021 data.
Major financial cycles include Revolut for $ 800 million, Checkout.com for $ 450 million and Hopin for $ 400 million.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “In the face of Brexit and the global epidemic, London has shown its resilience and has also proved to be one of the world’s leading technologies and startups.”
