LONDON – Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been a staunch supporter of devolution, his spokesman said on Tuesday, after being asked about his remarks which he described as “catastrophic”.
“The Prime Minister has always fully supported devolution and this government continues to put the union at the heart of everything we do,” a spokesman told reporters, not directly responding to the language use reported at the meeting.
“He will always be against those who try to divide the United Kingdom. It is clear he is rejecting the Scottish National Party’s call to disband the UK. ”
