The United Kingdom on Thursday blocked the entry of passengers from South Africa after the discovery of a second type of coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, allegedly from South Africa, the Department of Transport said.

According to Sputnik, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Wednesday that the UK had discovered a second new variant of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 against Covid-19 in two patients who had been in contact with immigrants from South Africa.

This does not include British and Irish natives, visas and permanent residents, who will be able to enter but are required to separate for ten days from their families,” the statement said.

According to the UK Department of Health and Public Care, the new version of Covid-19 was first discovered in Nelson Mandela Bay in South Africa in early October, however, experts believe the new change may have begun to spread by the end of August.
