The aviation industry’s recovery from the epidemic has gone down in history as more than 2 million people roamed the US airports on Friday for the first time since the beginning of March 2020.
The Transportation Security Administration announced on Saturday that 2.03 million visitors had been tested at airport security checkpoints on Friday. It was the first time in 15 months that the number of security tests exceeded 2 million in one day.
Air bookings have been in place since February, with many Americans being vaccinated against Covid-19. In the US, travel restrictions, such as official restrictions, have dropped.
Friday’s crowds were only 74% of the volume compared to the same day in 2019. However, the 2.03 million were 1.5 million travelers more than the same day last year, according to the TSA.
