WASHINGTON, Jan 26 – The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said it surveyed 1.06 million passengers at checkpoints at the U.S. airport on Tuesday, the lowest daily rate since April 2021.
Airlines reported a significant drop in bookings in December during an increase in COVID-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant.
Last week, American Airlines (AAL.O) said that although ticket sales had not returned to pre-Omicron levels, they were recovering “immediately” after a “significant” drop in early December.
The TSA surveyed 468,933 people on the same day in 2021 but 1.64 million per day in January 2020.
