US NEWS: The US is ordering 100 million additional COVID-19 tests to provide

Jan 28 – The United States government has purchased an additional 100 million COVID-19 tests from a reviewer of IHealth Lab Inc. As part of the White House program to distribute 500 million free trials nationwide, the Department of Health Defense said Friday.

Since January, the US government has been allowing families to order four free COVID-19 tests at home on the COVIDTests.gov website with expected delivery within seven to 12 days of order.

The collection of free tests is intended to reduce the shortage of tests nationwide amid growing demand during the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

Reported earlier this month that the White House plans to buy another $ 500 million in addition to its first purchase to increase test availability.

The president has been criticized for not focusing too much on early testing as part of his strategy to fight the epidemic. A nationwide shortage of tests has disrupted the epidemic response in recent weeks as the spread of the highly infectious Omicron varied.
