Covid charges in the US are rising again, postponing the course after months of decline and threatening further regression.
The seven-day average for new cases dropped to 57,695 on Wednesday, 9.5% more than last week, indicating the largest increase since January 12, according to data from John Hopkins University.
While that is only a fraction of the mid-January price change, the side change is worrying as countries open up their economies, various cases are increasing and the country is rushing to vaccinate as many people as possible to prevent another wave.
“We are not out of danger,” said Ali Mokdad, a professor of elementary health sciences at the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, which produces a powerful overview of Covid-19. “We’re moving slowly, and in many places we’re moving in the wrong direction.”
New York case numbers reported this week by Johns Hopkins have just filled to the brim after data strikes. But that has not had a positive impact on the national trend, rising to almost the same level even outside of New York.
“Now is not the time to give up. We have a vision, we need a lot of injections and we need effective ways to get it out, ”said Isaac Weisfuse, a gynecologist and professor working at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. “It is not uncommon for a person to become infected and die at this time.”
About 10% of the uptick should have said it would reconsider its opening plans and try to speed up vaccination, focusing on the most affected areas, Weisfuse said. The growing fatigue of the epidemic among young Americans, especially those traveling for spring vacation, is especially important, as they are less likely to get a gun.
The US vaccinated one in four people, and last week an average of about 2.5 million doses a day, according to Bloomberg’s Vaccine Tracker. That is not enough to protect the herd and many public health experts fear that further surgery may be done before vaccination pressure reaches full steam. Texas, Tennessee and Alabama are among the slowest in the country, which could indicate doubts about vaccination among Republicans, especially men.
While vaccines and the decline in the coronavirus season are playing off American profits, that is measured by the more widespread diversity, increasing the mobility and reduction of wearing a mask, Mokdad said.
Declining cases in major states such as California, Texas and Florida have obscured the increase elsewhere. “We could see the explosion in the area, but we could see it everywhere,” Mokdad said. “If we do not step back quickly or set the speed limit, yes, we will see an explosion.
Hospitals in some provinces are also beginning to challenge the trend. Seven provinces, including New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, reported a daily increase in Covid-19 admissions for a straight week, according to a University of Minnesota data analysis from the Department of Health and Human Services.
“It’s important to ignore the changes, especially when those changes become more consistent,” said Pinar Karaca-Mandic, a professor of health risk management leading the analysis.
The good news: Few hospitals are more likely to lead to hospital admissions or deaths, as the vaccination campaign focuses on older Americans and those at high risk, says Karaca-Mandic.
