The 55-year-old boy is a leading figure in the Democratic Party and has received national attention during cross-examination by Trump officials.
Although he is still a manager for the first time in California, Kamala Harris quickly became a major vice-presidential candidate after performing his White House campaign.
In the run-up to the Democratic Alliance nomination, the 55-year-old described himself as a “progressive prosecutor” who supported the legal reforms.
Ms Harris finally left the race in December 2019 with low voting numbers, and later authorized Joe Biden.
She was a strong contender as a working vice president, and her election made her the first black woman and the first Asian-American to be elected.
But who is Kamala Harris?
Born in Oakland, California in 1964, her father is Jamaican and economist, and her mother was Indian and was a biologist who worked in breast cancer research. She died in 2009.
The name Kamala means lotus in Sanskrit and another name for the Hindu goddess Lakshmi. Mrs Harris traveled with her mother to India throughout her teenage years.
Her parents met at the University of California, Berkeley, where they were both involved in human rights.
They separated when Kalanga was seven and was raised by her sister Maya by her mother in Berkeley.
During his elementary school years he “rode the buses” from his predominantly black neighborhood to his school as part of efforts to divide school racism.
That problem arose during the Democratic Alliance’s nomination race, when he challenged Joe Biden over his opposition to the segregation policy.
Ms Harris studied at Howard University, a historic black college in Washington DC where she studied political and economic science.
After attending law school in California, he became a prosecutor and was appointed deputy district attorney in Alameda County in 1990.
From there he became an attorney for the San Francisco region in 2003. During his first three years in office, the conviction rate in the city increased from 52% to 67%.
He also instituted a re-entry program for low-level drug offenders and fought student student dropouts.
In 2010, she won the race to become California’s attorney general – beating Republican Steve Cooley by only 0.8 percent and becoming the first black woman to run for office.
He married lawyer Doug Emhoff in 2014, and his sister Maya who presided over the event.
In 2016, he won the US Senate race in California, beating fellow Democrat Loretta Sanchez who had 20 years of experience in Congress.
Here, he made a name for himself in his career as a prosecutor, and received national attention when questioned by Trump’s top executives, including Jeff Sessions and Brett Kavanaugh.
Ms Harris launched her 2019 presidential campaign with the slogan “Kamala Harris For The People”, but ended up with a drop in voting prices and a lack of funding.
He has faced criticism for his record as attorney general, especially in his opposition to the death penalty and unemployment over police allegations.
Mr Biden then took her as his partner, describing her as a “brave little boy”. Mrs Harris was close to her late son, Beau, who was also the state’s attorney general.
